Mamun Rashid

Managing Director

Mamun has over 25 years experience in financial services and public practice. Early in his career, he was employed by ANZ and subsequently St George Bank in the areas of money markets, treasury, corporate lending and credit. Later in his career, he practiced in both accounting and law in insolvency and related management consulting areas for a period of 8 years. In the mid-nineties, he established his own practice and grew his firm with offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra. He was one of the founding shareholders in the Aegis Group of Companies, which before its sale to Morningstar (listed on the NASDAQ) was the largest independent equities research house in Australia. Rashid is both a practicing Chartered Accountant and a Barrister and Solicitor. He is also member of the NSW Law Society. CPA and Fellow of FINSIA. Mamun is currently the Managing Director of Independent Investment Research “IIR”.

Mike Sheikh

Executive Director, North America

Mike is an US Air Force Academy graduate and pilot. He has a Bachelor’s of Science in Economics He worked for Dean Witter and National Securities as broker and eventually a senior research analyst. He was also a lecturer at a local community college teaching about stocks and options markets. Mike then was involved in both lending/ credit for a variety of specialty finance companies. For the past 8 years he has been advising as a consultant in the equity capital markets in the micro/ small cap sector including Healthcare/ a technology and mining sectors.

Gavin Wendt

Executive Director – Metals & Mining
Gavin has been a senior resources analyst following the mining and energy sectors for the past 25 years, working with Intersuisse, Shaw Stockbroking and  Fat Prophets. He is currently the Executive Director, Mining & Metals with Independent Investment Research (IIR) and supervises all research outputs in this sector.

Caroline Elton

Team Leader - Distribution and Platform Development
Caroline has a bachelor of economics from the ANU. Caroline commenced her career in the Health and Sciences industry as an research analyst. She then progressed into marketing and communication. She has advised various listed companies including Merck and Novartis over 12 years with respect to marketing and communication. Since then she has been with the IIR assisting the company with marketing and communication with respect to equities research publications. She is responsible for the distribution of research outputs to key clients and also assists with the delivery of research within advisory firms in the wealth management sector.
