Gunnison Copper (TSX: GCU) announced on 22 September that Johnson Camp in Arizona had achieved commercial production. August copper cathode output was 1,304,448 pounds, followed by 894,767 pounds through 17 September. Ramp-up towards annual nameplate capacity of up to 25 million pounds continues. IIR perspective: the milestone moves attention towards delivery across full reporting periods. Production needs to be reconciled with sales, realised prices, costs, working capital and contractual obligations before readers can assess cash available to shareholders. A partial month is insufficient to establish an annual run rate.

Gunnison also disclosed on 16 September that it would not pursue conditionally awarded federal 48C tax credits. Its subsequent Arizona tax-credit announcement concerns a separate programme and expected future receipts. Readers should distinguish those funding streams and avoid treating expected payments as cash already held. 16 September update; 23 September Arizona update.
