Acurx reports first patient enrolment in PATHFINDER
Acurx Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: ACXP) said on 29 September that the first patient had enrolled in PATHFINDER, its Phase 2 study of ibezapolstat for repeatedly recurring C. difficile infection. The company described the pilot as fully funded and plans to enrol about 20 patients who have had at least three episodes in the previous year.
The study is open-label and single-arm, meaning it has no comparison group. It plans 14 days of treatment and follow-up through 24 weeks. Enrolment marks a clinical-development milestone, not evidence of treatment success or regulatory approval. Acurx’s separate planned Phase 3 ASPIRE trial remains dependent on funding. Any proposed regulatory filing route remains subject to the clinical evidence and FDA assessment.
IIR news brief added 30 September 2026. Company-reported clinical plans; enrolment does not establish treatment benefit. Historical IIR coverage does not establish a current engagement.
News · Laboratory research
Acurx reports laboratory findings ahead of planned patient trials
Acurx Pharmaceuticals said on 14 September that researchers had presented laboratory findings on its antibiotic candidate ibezapolstat at a conference held on 8–10 September. The work compared antibiotics against C. difficile and drug-resistant Enterococcus bacteria, including experiments where the organisms were grown together. The company reported that ibezapolstat retained antibacterial activity in these mixed cultures.
These are laboratory findings, not evidence of better treatment outcomes in patients. Acurx said it expected the first participant in a separate 20-patient pilot study to enrol in the fourth quarter; that remains a timetable expectation. Its broader Phase 3 programme also depends on obtaining funding. Clinical effectiveness, safety and any eventual regulatory approval still require further evidence.

News · Quarterly financial results
Acurx reports June-quarter cash while funding needs remain
Acurx Pharmaceuticals reported cash of US$10.7 million at 30 June in its 14 August results, compared with US$7.6 million at the previous year-end. During the quarter it raised about US$2.5 million before costs through a share offering and US$0.8 million through an equity funding arrangement. The quarterly net loss was US$2.3 million.
The higher cash balance should be read alongside the need for further funding. Its quarterly filing says continuing losses and financing needs raise substantial doubt about the company’s ability to continue operating. Additional finance is not assured. The figures describe the June quarter, not today’s cash balance, and do not establish that the full clinical programme is funded.

News · Early clinical observation
Bioxytran reports an early observation from one patient
Bioxytran said on 11 August that the first patient receiving its investigational treatment PLICID for a rare inflammatory nerve disorder had shown improvements in finger function and walking. The company reported that the patient received weekly intravenous treatment, with no adverse effects reported during that course.
This is an observation in one person, not evidence that the treatment is safe or effective across a wider patient group. Bioxytran itself acknowledged that limitation and said it intended to pursue a larger clinical evaluation. The announcement does not establish how other patients would respond, confirm a completed larger study or amount to regulatory approval.

IIR news brief added 19 September 2026. Company-reported observation in one patient; safety and effectiveness are not established by this case.

Progress revenue declines as earnings and cash flow improve
Progress Software (Nasdaq: PRGS) reported revenue of US$246.0 million for its fiscal third quarter ended 31 August 2026, down 2% from a year earlier. Its 30 September release showed GAAP diluted earnings per share rising to US$0.55 from US$0.44, and operating cash flow increasing 20% to US$88.0 million. Adjusted, non-GAAP EPS was US$1.69, excluding items including acquired-intangible amortisation and share-based compensation.
Full-year revenue guidance rose to US$1.044–1.052 billion, while GAAP EPS guidance fell to US$1.18–1.28 from US$1.60–1.74. These forecasts remain distinct from reported results. The updated guidance includes preliminary estimates for intangible assets acquired from Domo and restructuring.

Progress Software sets September results date
Progress Software said on 16 September that it plans to release fiscal third-quarter results after the US market closes on 30 September. The reporting period ended on 31 August, and a results call is scheduled for 5pm US Eastern time. This is a timetable announcement; it does not disclose the quarter’s revenue or earnings.
Separately, the company announced additions to its Telerik and Kendo UI development tools on 20 August, including features for AI agents to interact with application interfaces and process documents. That update describes product capabilities, rather than evidence of customer adoption or financial returns. The September results will provide the company’s next scheduled quarterly financial update.

Subsequent update, 30 September 2026: Progress has released its fiscal third-quarter results. Read the results update. The timetable and product announcement above retain their original dates.

Daktronics sales rise while new orders decline
Display manufacturer Daktronics reported first-quarter sales of US$234.6 million, up 7.1%, and net income of US$19.4 million in its 2 September release. The quarter ended on 1 August 2026 and forms part of its fiscal 2027 year. New orders fell 19.6% to US$191.8 million. Management attributed the decline to the timing of several substantial orders it expected in the following quarter; those expected orders should not be treated as completed sales.
Product backlog stood at about US$311 million. The comparison also needs a calendar adjustment: the latest quarter contained 13 weeks, versus 14 in the prior-year period. Sales growth, order intake and backlog therefore describe different parts of the business.

Cue Energy outlines drilling plans after lower annual revenue
Cue Energy’s 16 September presentation revisited its annual results and drilling programme. Revenue for the year ended 30 June 2026 was A$50.3 million, down 8% from the previous year. Reported profit after tax was A$4.4 million, compared with A$6.3 million. The results, released on 27 August, included impairment, asset write-offs and takeover defence costs. Net operating cash inflow was A$20 million, with year-end cash of A$15.7 million and no debt.
The September presentation outlined work at Palm Valley and Mahato, including further appraisal and exploration drilling. These activities may affect future production, but schedules and output remain dependent on drilling outcomes, approvals and execution. Annual financial results and development plans should be read separately.

Australia · Geoscience services and computing
DUG reports higher revenue and a return to profit
DUG Technology reported revenue of US$86.4 million for the year ended 30 June 2026, up 38% on the prior year. The geoscience and computing group recorded a US$2.6 million net profit after tax, compared with a US$4.4 million loss in FY25. Its 27 August presentation showed growth across services, software and computing sold as a service.
Operating cash inflow increased to US$20.9 million, while year-end cash fell to US$10.5 million following investment and financing payments. DUG reported net debt of US$13.0 million. The results show why earnings and cash balances should be read together: a profitable year can still involve substantial spending on infrastructure and repayments.

About this coverage
Selected announcements from companies in Australia and the United States, with US names from IIR’s research archive in focus. Company results, financing and operating updates describe different developments; they are not investment ratings.
How companies are selected
The US coverage-news selection follows dedicated company entries published in IIR’s public archive between 19 September 2024 and 19 September 2026. The archive establishes historical coverage, not a current engagement or an updated valuation. Other company updates are identified separately.
Coverage includes both small-cap and micro-cap companies. Size classifications differ between markets and change over time. Selection uses dated company disclosures, market-size evidence or confirmed small-cap index membership; the label is not a judgement about investment quality.
Each brief summarises an accessible company announcement. Companies are selected for a clear, useful update, rather than ranked by share-price performance. The linked releases provide the fuller financial and operating context.
Company expectations are distinguished from reported outcomes. This is a selected, dated collection, not a live price service or a complete market feed. Small companies can face concentrated operating risks, funding needs and limited trading liquidity.
